Bakersfield Ambulance Dispatch Center Staffed 24/7 for Telecommunicators Week
Hall Ambulance Service in Bakersfield, California, says medical emergencies don’t just occur during normal business hours, which is why the Nedra E. Thompson Communications Center is staffed 24/7.
As many people are starting their weekend, Communications Supervisor Tabitha Baker and emergency medical dispatchers Alexandria Navarro and Ed Cordova are just getting started for the overnight shift.
They are representatives of the EMD Defined campaign Hall Ambulance has been touting for this year’s National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
EMD stands for Emergency Medical Dispatcher, a professional telecommunicator who serves as the critical link between a 911 caller and the arrival of an ambulance. They often provide pre-arrival instructions, such as CPR.
The campaign is tied to National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, with a post featuring hashtags including #carecompassioncommunity, #emd, #npstw, #ambulance, #kerncountyfirstresponder, #ems, and #911dispatcher.
