Maricopa County Issues Heat Advisory, Hydration Guidance
PHOENIX — Maricopa County officials issued guidance on drinking water as temperatures rise into triple digits.
In triple digits, hydration is survival, not a suggestion:
- Drink water consistently, even if you’re not thirsty
- Avoid peak heat when you can
- Take breaks in cool spaces
- Check on kids, pets, and neighbors

Maricopa County breaks ground on West Valley shelter in Glendale
Maricopa County officials broke ground on the future West Valley animal shelter in Glendale, Arizona, a state-of-the-art campus featuring more than 600 kennels, 18 play yards, a "mutt-ternity" ward, a walking path along New River, a grooming room, low-stimulation housing and a photo studio set to open in May 2028.
